Accurate Diagnosis & Effective Treatments
Pain management isn’t the last resort
Many people think that seeing a pain specialist is the last resort. However, therapeutic interventions work best when applied early. To properly manage your pain in the long term, it is advisable to seek a consultation with a pain specialist early. If not, your ability to make a full recovery may be negatively affected if you were to wait a long time until your chronic pain becomes too much to bear, as this means that your condition has severely deteriorated.

Pain specialists don’t just prescribe pain medication
Most people have the misconception that pain specialists primarily prescribe pain medications as a means for treating pain. However, that is far from the truth. SPI’s aim is to treat your pain with the least invasive option possible after accurately identifying the cause of your pain with the latest pain diagnostic methods. Treatment options include physical therapy, pharmacological treatments, and/or minimally invasive procedures, depending on your pain condition.
Not all pain requires surgery to treat
Surgery for head pain is the last resort when no other treatment methods are effective in resolving your pain. Modern medicine has led to the availability of many interventional options that do not require the need for open surgery, which Specialist Pain International offers. These alternatives are seen as the "missing link" between conservative care and surgical options

Suffered Neck Pain Leading to Headaches
Ms Tan initially suffered from neck pain and subsequently developed a severe headache. The pain affected her ability to function at work as well as her relationships as she did not feel up for interacting with her friends and family, making her feel miserable and depressed.
Pain In Neck With Severe, Throbbing Headaches
Initially, the pain only affected her neck. In an attempt to resolve the pain, she went to see a physiotherapist who helped with her posture and strengthened her neck muscles. It was going well, until 3 months into the therapy, when she developed a severe, throbbing headache at the back of her head. The headache was also occasionally associated with dizziness and nausea.
Struggled with Pain for 5 years
She suffered from neck pain for 5 years. Other than attempting to treat that neck pain, she also went to see 2 neurologists for the head pain that developed. However, despite being prescribed migraine medications, she did not see an improvement in her condition. She then decided to consult Dr Chua.
Diagnosed Root Cause & Treated Pain
It has now been around 6 months since her treatment procedure and she has seen a significant improvement with her neck and head pain. This was made possible with the comprehensive care and detailed pain management plan provided by Dr Chua. Based on a thorough investigation of her condition, he accurately diagnosed her with Cervicogenic Headache and recommended a Lateral C1/2 Pulsed Radiofrequency treatment, a minimally invasive procedure that effectively provides long-term pain relief for her condition. Ms Tan is now able to go about her day and hang out with her loved ones without worrying about the throbbing pain in her neck or head.
